All the recent evidence suggests that Apple will be ditching the 32-pin dock connector in iPhone 5 in favor of a much smaller 8-pin one. This new little dock port has appeared in leaked parts and we have seen it in videos and pictures. In case you have been living under a rock, here’s how it looks like: A Shenzhen-based cable and accessory manufacturer ‘veister’ has tweeted a picture of the iPhone 5 charging-cum-sync cable without providing any further details. This cable appears to be a perfect match for the purported iPhone 5 dock connector.
Although the smaller head appears to be the size of an ordinary micro-USB cable connector, it is not a standard micro-USB connector. It’s Apple’s proprietory connector which won’t be compatible with any of your existing Apple or non-Apple devices. The build quality appears to be superb but it can be a replacement cable from an independent manufacturer. There have been a lot of leaks and rumors about the iPhone 5 which suggest that Apple’s next iPhone will be 4G LTE capable, also it’d be a world phone with a bigger 4-inch screen.
